Fabry disease (FD) is an X-linked lysosomal storage disorder originating from mutations in the GLA-gene causing deficiency in alpha-Galactosidase A (GLA) which leads to the accumulation of glycosphingolipids, particularly globotriaosylceramide (Gb3) and globotriaosylsphingosine (Lyso-Gb3).
